BATON ROUGE – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana reminds you that Sunday, Feb. 15, may be your last day to buy a health plan and have coverage in 2015.
The federal health insurance Marketplace, healthcare.gov, is open through Feb. 15 for eligible people to purchase an individual health insurance plan. If you miss the Feb. 15 deadline, you may have to wait until the next open enrollment period, which doesn’t begin until the fall, to buy coverage for 2016. If you don’t buy now, you could be responsible for the full price of your medical bills and could have to pay a tax penalty.
You will be able to buy health insurance at any time during the year if you have a major life event such as getting married, having a baby, losing a job or turning 26 and aging off of your family’s health insurance.
Blue Cross is here to help guide you through purchasing a health insurance plan. We can also help you find out if you might qualify for help paying for your insurance.

You also have the option to shop and buy directly at www.healthcare.gov. Blue Cross is the only Louisiana company selling insurance through healthcare.gov that is offering plans from all four metal (pricing) levels to residents in all areas of the state.
