BATON ROUGE, La. - Rod Teamer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion, has been named Chairman of the UNCF New Orleans Leadership Council. Teamer’s two-year term started in August 2016.
As council chairman, Teamer leads a diverse group of New Orleans community leaders committed to helping raise funds help Louisiana’s minority students get a college education.
“The chance to raise needed scholarships for young students in need of financial aid is a cause close to my heart,” said Teamer. “Helping young, smart people get a college education is one way we teach our children to fish and improve our community and the wider world.”
Much of the scholarship funds raised by the UNCF New Orleans Leadership Council go to Dillard University and Xavier University, two of UNCF’s 37 historically black college and university partners. Students from any school are invited to apply for UNCF (United Negro College Fund) scholarships.
