BATON ROUGE, La. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has promoted Clinton H. Prescott to vice president, Treasury and Financial Planning. The promotion was effective Sept. 16. Prescott reports to Adam Short, controller and senior vice president of finance.
In his vice president role, Prescott will be responsible for the overall treasury and financial planning functions of Blue Cross and its subsidiaries. The treasury function includes all activities involved in managing cash and investments. The financial planning function includes financial forecasting, budgeting and financial analytics. He is also responsible for maintaining and managing Blue Cross’ business insurance as well as the company’s financial strength rating.
Prescott has been with Blue Cross since 2004. His most recent role was director of financial and strategic planning. In this role, he led the budget, forecasting and analysis teams on all financial forecasting including overall budget development, revenue/margin goals, business diversification efforts and year-to-date variance reporting. Prescott has served as a member of the joint venture operating and finance committee, merger/acquisition team, operational efficiency team and project approval committee.
In his history at Blue Cross, Prescott served as manager of strategic planning and enterprise risk management for which he led the implementation of Blue Cross’ enterprise risk management program and its link to the company’s financial strategy. Starting at Blue Cross as an intern, Prescott has advanced over the years through the positions of financial planning analyst and strategic planning analyst as well.
Prescott earned a Bachelor of Finance degree in 2004 and a Master of Business Administration in 2006 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He is a CMA®, Certified Management Account, a Fellow of the Academy for Healthcare Management (FAHM®), a Health Insurance Associate (HIA®) and Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP®) and holds certifications in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA®) and Financial Planning & Analysis.
