NEW ORLEANS (Feb. 16, 2022) – Finding the baby usually means you buy the next king cake. But with Blue Bikes, finding the baby could mean you win 12 months of rides.
About one-fifth of Blue Bikes have a king cake baby hidden within their design. Today through March 4 (Friday of Mardi Gras week), riders who find the baby on a bike and post photos on social media will be entered to win a one-year Blue Bikes membership ($300 value).
If you ride a bike and find a king cake baby, show us by posting photos on your personal social media, tagging Blue Bikes (@BlueBikesNOLA) and using the hashtag #SearchingForBabyBlue. Those who do will be entered to win the contest. Just like you need to look before you bite into that slice of king cake, check the whole bike before you ride – babies are featured in different places on the bikes, and some are harder to spot than others.
“I am excited that we relaunched Blue Bikes in 2021 and that New Orleanians and guests to our city can use bikeshare to get around during Carnival season,” said Geoff Coats, CEO of Blue Krewe, the local nonprofit that manages Blue Bikes. “Blue Bikes are a fun, healthy, and affordable way to get to get to work, your family's gatherings, and parades without the hassles of fighting traffic or finding parking. With this social contest, we’re looking forward to riders showing us how they are pedaling to the parades and letting the good times roll!"
In addition to the one-year membership grand prize, Blue Krewe will select winners for other prizes, including helmets, T-shirts and other swag items.
After the contest ends March 4, Blue Krewe will select a grand prize winner through a random drawing of all riders who entered the social contest.

About Blue Krewe
Founded in New Orleans in 2020, Blue Krewe is a local, community-based non-profit that manages and operates the Blue Bikes program. Recognizing the importance of Blue Bikes as a healthy, equitable, and environmentally-friendly transportation option, local bikeshare enthusiasts - such former Blue Bikes staff, biking and pedestrian advocates, philanthropists and community healthcare advocates - came together to form Blue Krewe. The Greater New Orleans Foundation provided critical start-up funding and fiscal sponsorship for Blue Krewe. Blue Krewe's partners include Bike Easy, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans. To donate, volunteer or learn more visit www.BlueKrewe.org.
