Anselmo R. Rodriguez named 2022 Veteran Advocate of the Year

Nov. 11, 2022

BATON ROUGE, La – This Veterans Day, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is proud to announce it has received prominent military and veteran friendly honors.

For the third year in a row, G.I. Jobs has named the insurer among the nation’s top Military Friendly Employers. And, National Veteran Business Development Council has named Blue Cross employee Anselmo R. Rodriguez, who manages the insurer’s Supply Chain Management program, as 2022 Veteran Advocate of the Year.

The council, which oversees certification of veteran-owned businesses and their corporate partners, chose Rodriguez in recognition of his efforts to include veteran-owned businesses among the insurer’s contractors and suppliers.

“At Blue Cross, we want our workforce and our contractors to reflect the diversity of all Louisianians. That’s why we are proud to include so many veterans among our employees and our business partners,” Rodriguez said. “Their experience serving our country positions them well to help us achieve our mission of improving health and lives in the communities we serve.”

Rodriguez talks about what receiving the 2022 Veteran Advocate of the Year recognition means to him and thanks his colleagues who made this honor possible in this video (1:23).

“This Veterans Day, on behalf of all of us at Blue Cross, I want to thank our veterans for their service,” Rodriguez said.

G.I. Jobs is a service that helps veterans and people who are moving from active military duty into civilian work identify career and academic opportunities. They named Blue Cross as a Top Military Friendly Employer in recognition of the insurer’s efforts to recruit and include current and former military members among Blue Cross’ statewide workforce.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana will be featured in the 2023 Military Friendly Employer guide, which is issued to service people as they transition out of active duty. The guide also is available through National Guard and Reserve Centers, Veteran Affairs offices and Transition Assistance Program classes worldwide.

Among Blue Cross’ programs and services to recognize current and former military members are education and outreach sessions about military service for all employees and companywide recognition of military-focused holidays or observances. Boots to Blue is an employee resource group for team members who currently serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, those who have served and those who are members of military families or support the military.
