Blue Cross Sponsors “Ride for Pride” Blue Bikes Promotion to Benefit Project Lazarus
$1 donated for every ride taken through June 30

June 14, 2022

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is joining Blue Bikes in a fundraising promotion for Pride Month to show support and raise awareness of health needs that disproportionately affect the LGBTQ+ community.

For every ride taken on Blue Bikes during June, Blue Cross will donate $1 to Project Lazarus. This nonprofit organization offers transitional housing, health and wellness services to support people who are living with HIV/AIDS.

“We are proud to promote and contribute to the good work that Project Lazarus is doing in the community as we partner with Blue Bikes to raise awareness of this transportation option to access health care services,” said Michael Tipton, Blue Cross Foundation president and head of Community Relations. “We hope many of you will join us to Ride for Pride and show your support for health equity.”

"The month of June is an opportunity to proudly celebrate the history of the LGBTQIA+ community," said Geoff Coats, CEO of Blue Krewe, the local nonprofit that manages Blue Bikes. "Through Ride For Pride, Blue Bikes is excited to support New Orleans' LGBTQIA+ community and recognize the important work of Project Lazarus to empower community members living with HIV/AIDS."

“Thank you for supporting Project Lazarus during Pride Month. Your use of Blue Bikes will directly benefit our residents, allowing them to overcome the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS and live healthy and successful lives,” said Susanne B. Dietzel, Ph.D., Project Lazarus executive director.
