BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana residents who were unable to enroll in a Medicare plan because of last year’s weather-related disasters are reminded that they have until Feb. 28 to enroll during the Special Enrollment Period (SEP).
To be eligible for the SEP, an individual must have been eligible to enroll in a Medicare plan, but was unable to do so because of weather-related disasters in 2020. The SEP is also available to people who weren’t affected, but rely on friends or family for making healthcare decisions who were affected.
Louisiana residents who want more details about the SEP or information about Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plans can call 1-800-232-4967 (TTY 711), 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., 7 days a week or visit www.bcbsla.com/blueadvantage.
Visit the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BlueCrossLA to see a recorded video of our Medicare experts talking about the SEP and to get your questions answered. Viewers can also visit Blue Cross’ Medicare Made Easy YouTube playlist to see the SEP video and other short videos from in-house experts.
