Blue Cross Promotes Dan Wagner to Vice President for Medicare Sales

BATON ROUGE, La. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has promoted Dan Wagner to vice president, Medicare Advantage & Medicare Supplement Plan Sales.

In his new role, Wagner is responsible for developing and executing strategies to get new members and keep existing members in Blue Cross’ individual and group Medicare plans. These include Medicare Advantage products and Medicare Supplement insurance plans.  Also, Wagner will provide overall management and direction of sales and marketing functions related to Blue Cross’ Medicare products.

Wagner reports to Sheldon Faulk, Blue Cross senior vice president and chief operating officer – Government Business.

Previously, Wagner was Blue Cross regional director of group and individual sales in the New Orleans market. Prior to that role, he was state director of individual and senior sales. Wagner started his career at Blue Cross in 2003 as regional director of individual sales, which included overseeing sales activities for individual and senior products.

Among his responsibilities, Wagner has managed sales distribution channels, led strategic growth and retention initiatives for group and individual sales, and provided oversight of sales and advertising for individual and senior products. He has also led or been involved with numerous community initiatives in the New Orleans market on behalf of Blue Cross, including volunteer projects and the relaunch of Blue Bikes, the state’s first bikeshare program. 

Wagner earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Mississippi.
