BATON ROUGE, La – Today is National Nurses Day, marking the birthday of history’s most famous nurse, Florence Nightingale. This day marks the end of Nurses Week, which takes place each year May 6-12.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana recognizes and celebrates the nearly 200 nurses who are part of the insurer’s team, along with nurses who work at hospitals, clinics and other facilities in our statewide health care provider network.
At Blue Cross, nurses work in a variety of roles across the organization. Many are part of the in-house care team, offering health coaching and support to members dealing with long-term conditions, serious illnesses or injuries. But nurses also work on fraud and financial investigations, serve as health care data analysts and lead development of organizational policies, among other job duties.
Blue Cross Senior Vice President of Care Delivery Sabrina Hogan, a registered nurse, shares a “Happy Nurses Day” message in this video (:36).
