BATON ROUGE – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has released its
2023 Health, Care and Innovation report, which details work done in the past year to improve the health and lives of Louisianians.
“We are pleased to share this report with Louisianians. It chronicles our efforts in 2023 to create and build the best Blue possible for our members, our communities and all stakeholders,” said Bryan Camerlinck, Blue Cross president and CEO. “Every decision, initiative, project or collaboration highlighted in the report stems from our vision to create a healthier, happier Louisiana for all of us.”
The report outlines the five core pillars of the insurer’s strategic plan – Health, Affordability, Experience, Sustainability and Foundations – and gives notable examples of programs, services and partnerships that advanced this plan in the past year.
Among the 2023 successes highlighted in the report are:
•
90% program satisfaction for Blue Cross members who were part of
Care Management, working with a health coach from the insurer’s in-house clinical team
•
Successfully reducing hospital admissions and ER visits for members with chronic conditions, thanks to investing in data analytics to intervene and offer those members support sooner
•
Improvements in members’ preventive screening, condition management and childhood immunization rates, driven through collaboration with
Quality Blue providers
•
Implementing
a high-risk maternity strategy to look at the major risk factors that lead to Louisiana’s above-average rates of poor birth outcomes and target specific areas for improvement
•
Containing more than $36 million through Medical Management pre-pay avoidance and recovery programs
•
Earning numerous employer recognitions, including being named a Best Place to Work in Baton Rouge and Shreveport, named a
Top Military Friendly Employer by G.I. Jobs and placement on
DiversityInc’s 2023 Top Regional Companies List
•
More than half a million trips taken with
Blue Bikes, Louisiana’s first bikeshare program in New Orleans that Blue Cross is title sponsor of and
