Preaux Bono Day 2024
(Baton Rouge, LA) — This morning at their annual conference held in New Orleans, Points of Light – the world’s largest organization dedicated to increasing volunteering – announced Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana (Louisiana Blue) as a 2025 honoree of The Civic 50. This is the seventh consecutive year Louisiana Blue has earned this designation. The Civic 50 recognizes the 50 most community-minded companies in the United States according to an annual survey.

For more than a decade, The Civic 50 has served as the national standard for corporate citizenship and showcases how leading companies are moving social impact and community to the core of their business. This comprehensive survey evaluates large companies on the scale, sophistication and impact of their employee volunteering, community engagement and corporate philanthropy work.

Louisiana Blue and its employees were recognized for the second year in a row as the best in the nation for integrating community service and support into business operations. In 2024, Louisiana Blue employees gave more than 45,000 hours of volunteer service and over $4 million in charitable contributions, per the company’s annual Community Partnerships Report

“We are proud to be recognized alongside this year’s honorees,” said Michael Tipton, Louisiana Blue Foundation president and head of Community Relations. “This recognition reflects the deep commitment of our employees and nonprofit partners to improving the health and lives of Louisianians. It’s a testament to how we live our mission every day – not just through our business, but through meaningful service that strengthens our communities.”

“In an ever-evolving landscape, companies are looking to ensure that they can meet the needs of their communities, customers, and stakeholders,” said Jennifer Sirangelo, president and CEO, Points of Light. “Companies like Louisiana Blue are leading the way in showing how social impact benefits their employees’ well-being, strengthens the communities where they do business, and brings value and meaning to their work. Their efforts provide a model for others looking to bring the benefits of volunteering and social impact to their workforce and they’re extremely deserving of this recognition.”

The Civic 50 survey is administered by True Impact, and the results are analyzed by VeraWorks. The survey instrument consists of quantitative and multiple-choice questions that inform the scoring process. The Civic 50 is the only survey and ranking system that exclusively measures corporate community engagement.
