Blue Cross Goes Red for Heart Health Awareness
National Wear Red Day® is Friday, Feb. 4

Feb. 3, 2022

Heart Health Month

BATON ROUGE, La. –  Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, with one in four people dying each year from conditions like coronary artery disease, high blood pressure or heart failure. Over time, these health issues put stress on your heart and body, making you at higher risk for a heart attack or stroke.

Tomorrow, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana will join health care providers, heart health organizations and businesses to raise awareness of heart disease with National Wear Red Day®.

February is Heart Health Month. Each year, the American Heart Association encourages everyone to wear red clothing on the first Friday of the month and draw attention to heart disease risks, particularly for women.

Follow Blue Cross on social media @BCBSLA to see photos and posts from employees decked out in red attire, showing their support of heart health. Blue Cross posts regularly on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok.

Throughout February, Blue Cross will share original graphic designs, videos and other messages to help Louisianians learn how they can be STRONGER THAN heart disease. Download, share or post these messages on your personal social media with the hashtag #StrongerThanHeartDisease and inspire your loved ones to keep the beat going strong.
