BATON ROUGE, La. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has promoted Michael Gardner to serve as vice president, Enterprise Data. Gardner, who began in this role Sept. 1, will lead strategic initiatives to ensure Louisiana Blue’s data capabilities are analytically driven and highly efficient. This will make sure technology supports Louisiana Blue’s mission to improve the health and lives of Louisianians.
Gardner, and his high-performing and nationally recognized team, reports to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Tina Bourgeois. He partners with senior business, operational and technical leaders across Louisiana Blue. Through these collaborations, he will execute cross-functional strategic initiatives, scalable programs and services that improve experience and value for members, providers and employer groups.
His team covers cloud enablement, data engineering, business intelligence, data exchange, data quality, data governance and program management for the design and delivery of enterprise data.
Gardner has nearly 30 years of experience architecting, developing and implementing information technology systems. A Louisiana native, he joined Louisiana Blue in 1996. He has been instrumental in creating a best-in-class data and analytics practice to fulfill enterprise-wide data solutions.
He recently was director of Enterprise Data Strategy, delivering on Louisiana Blue’s Enterprise Data Warehouse and leading adoption of cloud data enablement. The Enterprise Data Warehouse is the central database for data from various sources and applications. It provides the sole source of data for decision-making that is accurate, timely and consistent. In turn, it allows Louisiana Blue to better serve members, providers, businesses and other stakeholders around the state.
Gardner graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in quantitative business analysis.
