BATON ROUGE – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana (Louisiana Blue) recently earned two awards recognizing the company’s Legal and Supply Chain Management teams.
At an awards ceremony in late October, the OnCon Icon Awards recognized Louisiana Blue as having a Top 50 Corporate Counsel Team.
Louisiana Blue received this award through peer and community voting to select legal teams worldwide that make a significant impact within their organization or in the industry overall. Winners demonstrate that they contribute to their fields through establishing best practices, demonstrating exceptional leadership and driving innovation.
“Our Louisiana Blue legal department is grateful to receive this award in recognition of our work to help make healthcare more affordable and accessible for our members and all Louisianians,” said Lou Patalano, Louisiana Blue chief legal officer. “It’s especially an honor to be recognized among some of the largest and most notable companies in the world.”
The National Veterans Business Development Council also recognized Louisiana Blue for its focus on including veteran-owned and diverse suppliers. The company received the President’s Award in late October at the council’s annual national conference in Detroit.
The council is the nation’s original third-party authority for the certification of veteran-owned businesses of all sizes and is dedicated to advancing the interests of veteran-owned businesses. They chose Louisiana Blue for this award in recognition of the company’s supplier diversity program and years-long efforts to include veteran-owned businesses.
“As a Louisiana-focused company, it’s important to us that our business partners are representative of all Louisianians,” said Anselmo Rodriguez, manager, Supply Chain Management. “We know our state is home to many veterans and military families. That is why it’s important to us to be recognized for including them among our corporate suppliers.”
