Blue Cross’ Design Duo Earns National Recognition in HOW In-House Design Awards

Dec. 23, 2015

BATON ROUGE, La – Two senior members of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana’s graphic design team were recognized by HOW magazine for their exceptional talent and unique illustrations in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation’s 2014 Angel Award program—a linen-textured booklet accented with watercolor design elements. Senior Graphic Designers Genevieve Procell and Jonathan Palmisano were two of a select group of national designers who were named Merit award winners by the publication.

HOW In-House Design Awards, a highly selective and well-regarded competition sponsored by HOW magazine—considered by many to be the “bible” of the graphic design profession—recognizes the best creative work produced by designers doing in-house work for corporations, associations and organizations like the Blue Cross Foundation.

HOW’s editorial and design team—along with Ashleigh Axios, the White House’s digital creative director, Alex Center, Coca-Cola Company’s design manager, and Ed Roberts, InSource’s director of marketing and HDL’s in-house management programming partner—evaluated more than 1,000 entries and selected winning projects that demonstrated an ideal mix of concept, strategy and execution. Entries were judged by business category (e.g., business-to-business, consumer, education) and also by how effectively the design achieved the stated business goals.

Procell and Palmisano’s  winning booklet for the 2014 Angel Award program helped to illustrate and express the diverse population of at-risk children in Louisiana and the 2014 Angel Award honorees, who dedicated countless hours to making the children’s young lives better. The designers and their work will be featured in the Winter 2015 issue of HOW magazine and will be spotlighted on HOWdesign.com.
